Doom Legacy Bug List

Here's a list of the bugs that have not yet been addressed in Doom Legacy. If you've got a bug not already listed here, feel free to send us an email about it via the Feedback page, and we'll add it to the list. Please keep in mind that as of July 17th, 2003, the coders are hard at work on the C++ version of Doom Legacy, so a lot is going to change.


Launcher:
  • Launcher: Generally useless for multiplayer game launching. In the meantime, use DOOM Connector.
  • Launcher complaints about missing doomargs.tmp when everything isn't in the same directory as the launcher.
General Gameplay:
  • Skins: Doesn't want to load more than several skins at a time.
  • Dehacked: Unable to change speed of enemy fireballs in DOOM1.
  • When a lot of sounds are trying to play at the same time, they randomly become much quieter and appear to come from the wrong location.
  • Pain Elemental will stop spawning lost souls after a certain number have been spawned.
  • Segment Violation fatal errors.
  • Levels using doom2.wad end prematurely once all Arachnotrons in the level are killed. (?)
  • Heretic plays the wrong sound when player steps in sludge.
  • With the 'random sound pitch' option turned on, ambiant sounds don't loop correctly.
  • Legacy changes Windows sound volume.
  • Sound volume doesn't fade dependant on vertical distance.
  • There is no music playing under MacOS 10.2.4.
  • Random crashes in Glide mode.
  • sectors that start out as water still make the splash sound after they've changed flats.
  • On certain levels, one is E1M8, if the music volume is all the way down, and then you try to make it louder, it won't play and it says on the screen: "An invalid parameter was passed to a system function. I_setmusicvolume: couldn't set volume".
  • Musserver has very long lag at game start before music starts playing and doesn't play files from PWADS or Heretic.
  • The config files need to save everything. There are still a few variables missing.
  • ENDDOOM lump out of date ( needs update to conform with GPL ).
  • Gamepad / Joystick support in Linux.
  • Can't save recorded demo as "tempdemo".
  • Gravity resets to zero.
  • Chasecam gets stuck occasionally.
Display Errors:
  • Translucent texture flickers, other errors.
  • When standing in a sector that's tagged to one of the 3D-Floor linedefs and you have invulnerability, your weapon looks like you don't have invulnerability.
  • There are sometimes sparklies where textures join.
  • There's no colormap effect when the Invulnerability is picked up.
  • The light given off by objects turns off quite visibly when it is just barely behind you, or just barely around a corner.
  • Splats aren't always displayed properly, especially in a foggy map.
  • Sky isn't foggy even when the map is.
  • Changing FOV in splitscreen turns everything goofy.
  • Edges of textures blend with the invisible next row of pixels past the edge.
  • Dynamic lights light up even totally cyan textures.
Multiplayer:
  • When the 'keep original item height at respawn' flag is used, and the thing is indeed put on a 3dfloor, the respawn FOG still appears at the real floor.
  • Bot Issues:
    • Some levels lag like crazy.
    • Bots can't handle 3D floors.
    • Bots don't avoid damaging sectors.
    • Can't add them to multiplayer game before humans.
  • In coop games even when friendly fire damage is turned off it still damages armor.
  • Savegame corruption errors when trying to join games with the FS spawn( ); function.
  • Deathmatch weapons spawn in multiplayer coop games?
  • SOCK_GET ERROR when trying to play multiplayer. Rare.
  • Splitscreen bugs:
    • Doesn't play sound for player2.
    • Only shows frag menu when player1 dies.
  • When a player goes up a lift with another player standing on their head, if the upper player hits their head on the ceiling they'll get stuck in it.
  • Consistancy Failure errors when trying to connect to a game server.
  • Can't set timelimit for deathmatch games.
  • Multiplayer respawn: players shouldn't get stuck together. If there are no free starts, one should be spawn fragged.
  • In COOP, when all player starts are full random MP start spot is used for additional players. It should pick the start closes to the other players.
  • Player messages are not displayed while intermission frag screen is displayed.
  • Intermission frag screen / frag stat screen can only display top 9 players.
Extended Features:
  • Slippery sector effect doesn't work in Heretic maps.
  • Linedef 304 doesn't work correctly.
  • FS func for camera's to look down is broken.
  • Wire to wire teleports from BOOM don't change the players facing angle according to the linedefs facing angle.
  • When you use FS to change the GL fog settings, they stay permanently unless changed back by scripting or manually by the user.
  • HUD graphics displayed by FS don't disappear when the player dies.
  • spawn( ) function corrupts savegames.
Annoyance:
  • Can't just jump into a new game, have to end game, then go back through menus.
  • The Bucholz stats are unneeded and just cause the names to pile up.
  • Compiling the source is harder than it should be.
  • Makefile should be more readable / editable?
  • The frame rate really drops when you pick up too many items at once.
